Today's Fantasy Rx

Minor League Free Agents and AAA/AA Relief Pitchers in the AL East

All minor leaguers are listed with their last MLB organization of the 2002 season. Pitchers who started 50% or more of their games are listed under starters; all other pitchers are listed as relievers.

Due to the limitations of our primary sources, many pitchers' inning totals are rounded to the nearest full inning. We apologize for any inconvenience these omissions cause our readers, but this rounding should not overtly color analysis of the affected players.

I'll continue tomorrow by discussing AL Central minor league relief pitchers.

Today's Fantasy Rx: All AL East parks have remained fairly neutral over the past few years. We see no obvious reason to either select or ignore pitchers and pitching prospects in general here based on stadiums. However flyball pitchers are more sensitive to the new design of Camden Yards, which should keep homer levels elevated in Baltimore, and Yankee Stadium, where hitters also hit about 15% more homers than average. Surprisingly Boston is among the best pitchers' parks in baseball for limiting homers as Fenway suppresses right-handed power by 12% and left-handed power by a whopping 26%; only PacBell limits lefties to a greater extent. An extreme groundball pitcher like Derek Lowe doesn't particularly benefit from pitching for the Red Sox as much as he wouldn't be hurt by a place like Camden, making him a good candidate to continue succeeding given the unbalanced schedule.
