Earlier this week, San Diego traded Jay Payton, Ramon Vazquez, David Pauley, and $2.65M to Boston for Dave Roberts.

On December 8th, San Diego signed Woody Williams to a one-year contract with an option for 2006. Williams will receive a base salary of $3.5M in 2005 as well as $125,000 for each start he makes up to 32 starts. By making 15 starts, he guarantees his option at $4M with a $100,000 bonus for every 2006 start he makes up to 30. However, if he makes at least 25 starts in 2005, he will guarantee his option at $5M with a $66,667 bonus for each of his first 30 2006 starts.

On December 9th, San Diego signed Eric Young to a one-year, $1M contract with a $150,000 buyout on an $850,000 option for 2006. The deal includes bonuses that could net Young another $700,000 per year.
