Montreal placed Nick Johnson on the disabled list on August 21st. Johnson's right cheekbone caught a bad hop off a Royce Clayton ground ball in the third inning of the Expos' August 20th game in Colorado. While he remained conscious, the blow caused him to fall to the field where medical personnel reportedly attended him for around 15 minutes, working to immobilize him before removing him from the stadium. The ball fractured his cheekbone, and though he's expected to recover in four to six weeks, Montreal plans to send him home for the remainder of the season, choosing not to rush his recovery given their last place position in the NL East standings.
