Garland Before Time XXIII/X

by Jessica Polko

The White Sox re-signed the arbitration-eligible Jon Garland to a one-year, $2.3M contract in late November.

While this salary seems a little generous, I don't think Chicago should have considered non-tendering him and I believe he would have earned a similar amount had he gone to arbitration. Consequently, the White Sox might as well settle before a hearing that would put them in a position to have to highlight Garland's negatives, potentially damaging his confidence and/or his relationship with the club.
