Montreal placed Claudio Vargas on the disabled list on Friday retroactive to August 6th. Vargas struggled over his last few starts and complained of a sore shoulder. An MRI on Thursday revealed tendinitis in his right rotator cuff. Considering the fast approach of the end of the season, I wouldn't be surprised if the Expos simply shut Vargas down for the remainder of the year, as he's already thrown 30 more innings than he logged last season.
