2004 Hitting: July NL Roto Prospects
by Tim Polko

Today's Fantasy Rx

Arizona: Craig Ansman, 26, C-R
55/186 for .296/.380/.532 with 9 HR, 34 RBI, 38 R, 1/1 SB%,
and a 26:51 BB:K for AAA Tucson(PCL).

With Robby Hammock badly struggling, Ansman could spend the second half auditioning for a permanent starting job in Arizona. He certainly deserves a shot after mashing at every level over the past four seasons; he even registered a .324/.421/.624 at AA El Paso(TL) in 2003. Yes, he doesn't own great plate discipline, but the BOB remains forgiving to power hitters, so watch for an opportunity to acquire Ansman, who could approach double-digit value next season in the Craig Wilson mold with a little luck.

We'll continue tomorrow with American League pitching prospects.

Today's Fantasy Rx: Several minor league veterans warranted discussion above, but a few youngsters merit more attention in keeper leagues. While David Wright obviously leads the true prospects, Craig Ansman, Antonio Perez, J.R. House, and even Jake Gautreau deserve significant consideration anywhere you can keep them in future seasons since all five could earn long-term starting jobs by next spring.

Also, the All-Star Final Vote ends Wednesday evening at 7pm(CDT). If you have the chance, please go vote for Thomas and Abreu, in true Chicago style, as often as possible.
