First Basemen Week starts tomorrow!

Today's Fantasy Rx: Several players discussed above would be great draft picks and most of them have fairly clear paths to the majors. However the Dodgers' situation is far more convoluted. Joe Thurston will start at second for them in 2003, and Cesar Izturis and Adrian Beltre likely will comprise the left side of the infield. So where does that leave King and Diaz?

King owns a better arm and glove than Diaz, as well as far superior plate discipline. If LA lets Beltre leave, he'll start at third for the Dodgers in 2004. As he also possesses the defensive ability to shift to almost any position, I think they'll find a place for him. Diaz has already started moving around the infield, so he's more likely to settle at first or in left. Since Diaz is also at least one year further from the majors than King, you probably should pass on drafting him altogether, as while I can see the Dodgers dealing Diaz despite his upside, King seems like someone they'll want to keep for a few years.
