I'll continue tomorrow by discussing National League Second Basemen with double-digit Positive Draft Value.

Today's Fantasy Rx: A brief look at yesterday's deals:

Jim Thome signed with the Phillies, keeping his value the same but raising the value of Jimmy Rollins and Placido Polanco in 5x5 leagues, along with every other Phillies' position player in every league. Ben Broussard is the big winner here at the moment as his value reaches $10-15 if he remains Cleveland's 1B.

Mike Remlinger signed with the Cubs, also keeping his value the same ($5+) but effectively improving the chances for wins for all Cubs' pitchers. The Cubs fielded the worst bullpen in the NL last year, and Remlinger was a member of the best pen in many years.

Oakland trades Billy Koch and 2 PTBNL(Baseball America reports that Neal Cotts will be included) to the White Sox for Keith Foulke, Mark L. Johnson, and Joe Valentine. Foulke seems likely to be the most valuable AL pitcher in both 4x4 and 5x5 in 2003, Johnson's now a great $1 catching gamble, and Valentine might help in the A's pen by the end of the year. Koch's value drops, probably by about $10 given his new team and ballpark, and Neal Cotts is now undraftable due to his control problems and the Sox's inability to develop pitchers in recent years.

Finally, potentially the most significant move for fantasy teams was completely ignored by almost everyone. St. Louis signed a couple of fantastic minor league free agents in Kiko Calero and Jancy Andrade. While the latter is probably a two-year project, Calero is ready for the Cardinals' rotation right now, and he looks like the favorite for the fifth starter's job at the moment. I still believe that St. Louis will acquire at least one more starter, but Calero remains an excellent minor league selection if you're looking for in-season help. St. Louis should see at least one injury to a starter, and Calero has much more immediate upside than someone like Jason Simontacchi.

As the Cubs/Dodgers trade may not be finalized for a couple days, I'll refrain from discussing the roto implications at this time.
