Best ads: Office for National Drug Control Policy, with their spot-on "parodies" of past MasterCard and Monster.com ads. Finally, we see an appropriate use of our tax dollars, suggesting one of the most logical connections to patriotic Americans: anyone buying illegal narcotics could be supporting terrorists. Worst ads: We were so disappointed by the Pepsi ads that they earned our uncoveted "Turkey of the Week" award. All they really depicted was a history of really dreadful ads by an inferior product and company. Funniest ad: Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon's Identity. Visa brings up a somewhat faded although not dated pop culture reference in one of the best in-jokes of the night. Most interesting ads (tie): Monster's Giuliani speech and Bud's Clydesdales honoring New York, both very dignified remembrances of September 11th. Best ad by a financial institution: Hank Aaron encouraging Barry Bonds to retire before breaking the all-time home run record, by Charles Schwab. The only primarily baseball ad of the night hit the funny bone early in the game. Best Bud ad: Southerner in the "howyadoin'" bar, near the end of the game. Most overrated ads according to the overnight numbers (tie): Levi's Crazylegs and Blockbuster's Dancing Pets. The latter has a promising concept with a weak delivery, and none of Spike Jonze's videos make any sense. Best animal actor: E*Trade's monkey. While the ad just kept going, each segment was funnier than the last. Best official singing performance: Mariah Carey singing the National Anthem. You could see her restraint as she sung a relaxed and normal version, only taking off to a higher octave on the "brave" at the end. Best unofficial singing show: "A Hard Day's Night" by Terry Bradshaw and Sir Paul. Of course it was unnecessary and added to an already extended halftime show, but how many of us wish we could duet with Paul for even a minute? Congratulations to Terry for acting like any normal fan, and ignoring any embarrassment or subsequent jeers. Most momentum-changing decision: Introducing the Patriots as a team. Their action forced everyone to immediately focus on the game and how the media over-hyped so many individual Rams while centering on the Pats' QB before almost anyone else on the team. Everyone, including the Rams, seemed surprised by this move, and the Patriots carried that momentum into the game. I believe that covers everything important from Sunday. The commercials as a whole were disappointing when compared to previous years, but we still enjoyed most of the telecast. Okay, so in case you missed it, the Patriots beat the Rams by a score of 20-17 on an Adam Vinatieri 48-foot field goal as the clock ran out, and even my mom enjoyed the game.

We'll review minor league free agents and AAA/AA prospects from the American League Central tomorrow. Today's Fantasy Rx: John Stephens and Brandon Claussen are the most prepared pitchers in the AL East, with Alex Graman and Mike Smith also looking extremely promising. Only Stephens likely deserves a top minor league pick since Baltimore will certainly give him a chance to start. While Claussen shows incredible promise and is worthy of a high pick in mixed leagues, the Yankees are willing to trade him if needed. Graman and Smith show good promise for young pitchers in AA, and if given the opportunity, should excel in their respective organizations, although I expect Graman will be traded sometime this season.
